Bangladesh signs first economic partnership agreement with Japan

Signed in Tokyo on 6 February 2026, the EPA gives Bangladesh duty-free access for 7,379 products from day one, including garments, and opens 97 services sub-sectors to Japan.

Exports in the first quarter of FY2026-27 reached $13.094 billion, with September up 8.54%; garments earned $10.58bn and Türkiye was the fastest-growing major market.
