The Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) has invited private investors to manage, develop and operate facilities on 22 vacant acres at the Pangaon Inland Container Terminal (PICT) in Keraniganj for 22 years, The Daily Star reported on 1 October 2026. The tender was published on 22 September.
The CPA leased 48.24 acres from the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority for the terminal, which opened in 2013 on the Buriganga riverbank at a cost of Tk 154 crore. The existing facility covers 26 acres. Bidders need at least five years of experience handling containers from vessels and an annual capacity of at least 70,000 TEUs at an inland river terminal or port.
According to the report, average monthly handling was 242 TEUs in 2024 and 366 TEUs in 2025, rising to about 900 TEUs in the seven months to August 2026 after Medlog Bangladesh took over operations on 17 January. CPA Secretary Syed Refayet Hamim said the authority “took the step for proper utilisation of the vacant land”. Medlog Bangladesh managing director ATM Anisul Millat said his firm is interested in bidding.
