Bangladesh-India trade through Benapole land port resumed on 1 June 2026 after a seven-day suspension for the Eid holidays, UNB reported in The Financial Express.
Import and export activity was halted from 25 to 31 May. Port Director Shamim Hossain confirmed that bilateral trade had restarted, and about 3,000 workers returned to loading and unloading duties. Passenger movement for passport holders continued during the holiday.
Aminul Haque, vice-president of the Benapole Importers and Exporters Association, said the cargo backlog on both sides of the border was expected to ease now that clearance had resumed.
