Background report, originally published by Bonik Barta on 7 September 2025. It is the most recent export by Ananda Shipyard referenced in 2026 coverage of the sector.
Ananda Shipyard was exporting Wes Wire, a 5,500 DWT multipurpose vessel, to Turkey’s NOPAC Shipping & Trading Limited, with handover set for 7 September 2025. The ship is 341 ft long, 55 ft wide and 25 ft deep, has a 2,735-horsepower engine and a speed of 12 knots, and can carry cargo such as steel coils, coal, fertiliser, food grain and chemicals.
The newspaper described it as the largest and most technologically advanced vessel Bangladesh had exported, following a 6,100 DWT vessel sent to UK-based Enzian Shipping in 2022. Chairman Abdullahel Bari said “the lack of long-term financing at low interest rates is holding back the industry”. Advisers M Sakhawat Hussain and Adilur Rahman Khan and Turkish Ambassador Ramiz Sen attended.
