State-owned Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) posted an 8 per cent year-on-year rise in profit to Tk 578 million in October-December 2025, The Financial Express reported on 9 February 2026.

Revenue rose about 1 per cent to Tk 1.47 billion while operating expenses fell more than 4 per cent to Tk 716 million. For the six months to December, profit fell 5 per cent to Tk 1.36 billion because of lower revenue. Net asset value per share rose to Tk 111.27.

The report attributed the quarterly gain to higher freight charges on international and local routes, cost cuts, priority on government cargo under the amended Bangladesh Flag Vessels (Protection) Act, a stronger dollar and higher interest income. “We have earned higher revenue due to the increased freight charges on the international routes,” said Managing Director Commodore Mahmudul Malek. BSC’s fleet stood at six vessels after Banglar Progoti arrived in October 2025 and Banglar Nobojatra in January 2026.
