The Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser, Brig Gen (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam, visited Khulna Shipyard Limited (KSL), the state-owned shipbuilder operated by the Bangladesh Navy, on 17 June 2026, BSS reported, citing an ISPR release.
He inspected ongoing projects including landing craft tanks, dredgers, tugboats, crane boats, pilot vessels, survey vessels and search-and-rescue vessels, and toured the plater, machine, carpentry, rubber, docking and electrical shops. Officials briefed him on the yard’s technical capability, workforce, production infrastructure and plans for expansion and modernisation.
The adviser said KSL supports the defence industry under the government’s “Made in Bangladesh” policy, praised its expertise and said he hoped all projects would be completed on schedule. The release did not give the number or value of vessels under construction.
