India’s Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has agreed to buy Evos, a European operator of liquid bulk storage terminals, in a deal valued at €2.56bn (about $2.87bn). It is the Indian group’s biggest move yet into Europe’s port market.

What APSEZ is getting

  • Terminals: eight liquid storage sites in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Spain and Malta
  • Storage capacity: 6.3 million cubic metres in 452 tanks
  • Berths: 63 for ships and barges
  • Cargo: petroleum products, chemicals, marine fuels and alternative fuels such as methanol and biofuels
  • Volume: 37 million tonnes of liquid cargo handled in 2025

The sites sit in key European energy and industrial hubs, including the Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Antwerp area, Hamburg and the Mediterranean.

Deal terms

APSEZ will pay €1.18bn for the equity; the headline valuation also covers Evos’s debt. The purchase will be funded with debt, and Japan’s MUFG bank has committed up to €2.8bn in financing.

The deal still needs regulatory approvals and must go through employee consultations. It is expected to close within 15 months.

A bigger global footprint

Once the takeover is complete, APSEZ’s international network will grow to 28 ports and terminals in 10 countries.
