Mongla port earned a record Tk 387.95 crore in revenue in fiscal 2025-26, beating its Tk 347.87 crore target by Tk 40.08 crore, Mongla Port Authority Chairman Rear Admiral Arif Ahmed Mostafa told journalists, according to a report by the regional publication Maritime Gateway on 24 September 2026.
The port received 815 vessels during the year and handled 12.251 million tonnes of cargo against a target of 9.15 million tonnes, up 17.66 per cent year on year. Container handling reached 29,714 TEUs against a 25,000 TEU target, up 38.49 per cent, and 12,075 reconditioned vehicles were imported, 496 more than the year before.
The chairman said procurement of support vessels is in its final stage and due by June 2027, and that an upgrade financed under India’s third Line of Credit will add two container terminals and yards. Maintaining navigability along the 144-km channel remains a major concern, the report said.
