Western Marine Shipyard (WMS) delivered three cargo landing craft — Maya, SMS Emi and Muna — to Marwan Shipping of the United Arab Emirates on 20 November 2025 at a ceremony on the Karnaphuli River in Chattogram, Bangladesh Military Forces reported.

The vessels are part of an eight-ship contract signed in 2023 covering four landing craft, two tugboats and two tankers. The yard had earlier delivered the landing craft Rayan and the tugs Khalid and Ghaya. With these handovers, WMS has exported 36 vessels worth about $138 million to 11 countries, according to the report — a figure also cited by East Asia Forum in May 2026.

UAE Ambassador Abdullah Ali Abdullah Alhammoudi, the chief guest, said he expected more Bangladeshi-built vessels to operate in the Emirates. WMS Managing Director Captain Sohel Hasan stressed the industry’s need for long-term capital support.
